The Kidnapping of Ella Lenk

In 1994, child star Ella Lenk was kidnapped and held for ransom for a week before she was rescued. The SWAT team discovered her in an isolated shack with two adults. Jackson Byrne went to prison, and Marge Dockery wrote a tell-all book about how she saved America’s littlest sweetheart. Little Ella’s mother took her away from Hollywood and the spotlight, and Marge’s fifteen minutes of fame quickly disappeared. The only ones who still cared about the case were those attempting to live with the aftermath.

Cut to 2019 and Lou Marsh, who’s just graduated with a degree in film and now has time to focus on their obsession: the Ella Lenk Kidnapping case. Lou’s convinced that Marge’s story is a lie and they’re willing to go to any lengths, camera in hand, to track down the key players and record their reactions. Lou dreams of Sundance and the Oscars, but their imagination can’t stretch to include the idea that the real criminal might still be dangerous and they might be serving themself up on a silver platter.
